Haikus in contest

I won free tickets to the Philadelphia orchestra last week.  Love the Arts In Philly has a twitter feed where they regularly give away tickets in exchange for tweeting a phrase.

So, I won tickets, but it turned out I couldn’t use them!  Well, really, I just wanted to keep my current Tuesday night commitment of karaoke with the ladies.  Tuesdays are currently one of my favorite days of the week thanks to them!  So, I put a little contest out there- write me a haiku about planets (the orchestra was playing Holst’s The Planets) and I’d give the tickets to the random winner!

Here’s the awesome haikus I got:

Distant icy world
Demoted not forgotten
A planet always

Planets hold a place
Stepping stones on the blanket
Heavenly rocks in time.

Dad shared Holst’s Planets
From my car seat dreamed and saw
Wonderous story

Cosmic mystery,
they move without collision:
as if by design!

God made the planets.
how big is the universe?
we are small compared.

earth is one of nine
then they downgraded pluto
i loved mom’s pizza

Gods of love and war,
Melody and aggression.
Truth in symphony

planets are far far,
philadelphia is here,
cou-jones is so nice

Bankrupt they may be;
Musicians awesome still, tho.
I would take the tix!

Best contest ever!
