The Philly Modern Quilting Guild presented an evening with Cherri House. I called my quilting friend G and her cute son Ollie and we made the trek out to the event.
It was so inspiring. Here’s a quick tour of the quilts she shared with us. Most are in the book City Quilts. (Alternate title for this post: A study in hair…)
Cherri’s work is so beautiful and bold! Her story is too- I appreciated her honesty about the work she does and what inspires it. It’s hard to pick a favorite quilt, but the geometric shapes and use of primary colors in the front designs blended with the quilting tells a story of the places in Cherri’s life.
It also felt rather poignant to view these quilts after seeing the Infinite Variety display. As well, G and I met up again the next day to view the Capucci exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum or Art! I don’t have pictures of the event (they weren’t allowed) but there are great shots here.
So many solids in a short amount of time have my creative brain reeling! The pleating, the color, the geometric design! It’s given me some fodder for my next quilt top!
